A system for retaining embankments by means of superimposed blocks for building tilted walls, said blocks, made of a single piece and with a high resistance material, being located with a previously selected tilt and variation between the spaces of each piece, this providing different aspects and results to the retention system. The blocks are arranged in rows from the lower limit of the cut or embankment, each row being filled with the embankment material, each block being located with the open end portion facing the embankment and over the shoulders of two pieces of the lower row, the lateral walls and the front surface forming a housing to be filled, a flange located in the front surface of the piece working as a stop towards the outer portion of the wall, which along with the weight and the filler of the block counteracts the thrusts that intend to eject the block piece towards the outer portion of the formed wall.
