Use of a cas gene in combination with CRISPR repeats for modulating resistance in a cell

Disclosed is the use of one or more cas (Clustered Regularly Interspaced Short Palindromic Repeat [CRSPR]-associated) genes or proteins for modulating resistance in a bacterial cell against a target nucleic acid or a transcription product thereof. Further disclosed are methods of modulating the resistance of a bacterial cell with said cas genes.
