SHAPE MEMORY RESIN, ORTHODONTIC APPLIANCE USING SAME, AND METHOD FOR CONTROLLING VISCOELASTIC PROPERTY OF SHAPE MEMORY RESIN

[Problem] To provide a shape memory resin, which has an excellent shape memory effect and shows little color change with the passage of time, and an orthodontic appliance using the shape memory resin. Also provided is a method for controlling the viscoelastic property of a shape memory resin to a desired level. [Solution] An orthodontic appliance is produced by: mixing polyethyl methacrylate with benzoyl peroxide to give powder (A); mixing methyl methacryloyloxyethylsuccinate with 1,6-hexanediol dimethacrylate, adding N,N-dimethyl-p-toluidine thereto, further adding 1-butanol and thoroughly mixing the mixture to give solution (B); mixing powder (A) with solution (B) to give a homogeneous solution; putting the solution into a mold; and polymerizing the same. The viscoelastic property can be controlled by controlling the amount of 1-butanol added in the aforesaid process.
