<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve the usability of a schedule preparing system. <P>SOLUTION: In a schedule preparing system according to the present invention, icons for variable elements which show order-variable schedule elements are classified into a plurality of categories and a plurality of icons are displayed. A variable schedule area for showing an order-variable schedule is displayed, and variable-element icons selected from the variable-element icons can be moved into the variable schedule area on a user computer. When variable-element icons are moved into the variable schedule area on the user computer, the order of the icons is changed according to the position to which the icons have been moved and the icons are displayed in the changed order in the variable schedule area. The schedule elements shown by the icons are stored in the order in which the icons are arranged.
