Disclosed are an improved energy correction device through pixel grouping and a method thereof. According to an embodiment of the present invention, the energy correction device which corrects an error of an image comprises: a pixel value transformation unit which performs pixel value transformations for an original image and a decoded image, and obtains each piece of directional information; a group energy extraction unit which classifies each piece of obtained directional information into a plurality of domains, and extracts group energy representative values that represent the corresponding domains from each of the classified domains; and a correction value calculation unit which calculates an energy correction value on the basis of a difference between a group energy representative value extracted from the decoded image and a group energy representative value extracted from the original image.
