The system (1) has a data input unit e.g. touchscreen (11) or video camera (12), attached at a base device (4), and a data output unit e.g. monitor (13) or loudspeaker (14), attached and/or mounted in the device. A part of the input and output units interacts with a therapist (37), so that a part of a training program for a patient (2) is determined and/or configured from the therapist. The part of the input and output units interacts with the patient, so that a physiotherapeutic training program selected by the patient and provided by the therapist is interactively completed. An independent claim is also included for a method for performing rehabilitation of physically impaired patients i.e. patients with movement impairments of extremities.
