The body (1) has a bracket plate (4) arranged between a lateral front wall and an outer sidewall (3) and extending in a transverse direction of the body. The bracket plate comprises two flanges that are connected with the lateral front wall and the outer sidewall, respectively. One of the flanges is connected with a reinforcement element of a front hinge column of the body. The reinforcement element is guided from the outer sidewall to the lateral front wall and connected to the lateral front wall and the outer sidewall. An independent claim is also included for a method for assembling a motor car body.
