The gear (1) has an electromotor (2) drivingly coupled with a handlebar (4) over a gear box (3). The gear box comprises a synchronous belt drive (7) with two toothed belt wheels (10, 12) and a toothed belt (9). One of the belt wheels is mounted at a transmission component i.e. ball threaded nut (13), such that the belt wheels are moved from a displaced position in which the toothed belt is loosened, into a changed position in which the toothed belt is stressed. The transmission component is connected with a spindle portion (14) of the handlebar over balls (15). An independent claim is also included for a method for manufacturing an electromechanical steering gear.
