The device has an arc extinguishing chamber which has a splitter stack parallelly arranged with quenching plates. The arc extinguishing chamber comprises end wall at the arc exit side, which has vents (34) for dissipation of arc quenching gases from arc extinguishing chamber. The exhaust air duct extends in longitudinal direction parallel to end wall. The exhaust air streams of the arc extinguishing gases are derived from ventilation holes.
