<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To realize a highly accurate visual line detection unaffected by a hidden eye, a dominant eye or the like. <P>SOLUTION: A face detection part 1100 detects a face from image data. A feature amount extraction part 1300 extracts a feature amount corresponding to a face direction from the image data. A visual line reliability calculation part 1400 calculates degree of visual line reliability according to the face detected by the face detection part 1100. An eye selection part 1500 selects an eye according to the degree of visual line reliability. An eye area feature amount extraction part 1600 extracts an eye area feature amount of the selected eye from the image data.
