The invention relates to a vane pump having at least one vane, having a pump housing with a base and a cover, and having a rotor rotatably mounted therein, wherein the at least one vane is mounted displaceably in a groove in the rotor and has at least one vane tip which projects out of the outer peripheral surface of the rotor and which bears against the inner peripheral surface of the pump housing, as a result of which the vane, together with the base and the cover, defines a suction chamber and a pressure chamber which has an inlet opening and outlet opening situated in the base and/or in the cover in a radially outer position, wherein the rotor is provided, on the peripheral edge, with a chamfer which faces toward the base and/or cover which has the inlet opening and/or outlet opening.
