<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide non-polar solid phase change inks, a method of manufacturing the inks and a method of using the inks in biomedical applications, as a method for machining comparatively low-priced microfluidic devices and microarrays. <P>SOLUTION: A microfluidic device includes a first substrate 5, and a pattern 4 of a phase change ink deposited on a surface of the first substrate. The phase change ink includes a non-polar polymeric material and an optional colorant, wherein the phase change ink is solid at room temperature but is liquid at a jetting temperature of from about 60°C to about 150°C, and a water contact angle on the deposited phase change ink is from about 90° to about 175°. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT |
