<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a structure of a fuel cell of "lateral stripe type" in which cracks hardly occur in a dense membrane continuously covering the surface with steps formed between adjacent power generating elements. <P>SOLUTION: A solid electrolyte membrane 40 (a dense membrane) between adjacent power generating elements A and a solid electrolyte membrane 40 in the power generating element A are continuously formed by dipping. The dipping is applied to a supporting substrate 10 with fuel electrodes 20 of the adjacent power generating elements A each projecting from the outer surface of the supporting substrate 10. In other words, the "dense membrane" is formed by filling to cover the surface with steps continuously. The outer surface Z1 of a first portion 41 between the adjacent fuel electrodes 20 in the "dense membrane" is bowed inward relative to the outer surfaces Z2 of second portions 42 corresponding to the facing ends of the adjacent fuel electrodes 20 in the "dense membrane". <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT |
