<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a hole-assisted optical fiber which has good bending loss characteristics, is suitable for use as optical fibers for optical communication, and has a large design margin for achieving desired properties. <P>SOLUTION: A hole-assisted optical fiber is provided with a core and a cladding having an inner cladding layer and an outer cladding layer and having a plurality of holes formed around the core, in which the diameter of the core is 3 μm to 9.8 μm, the relative refractive index difference of the core relative to the outer cladding layer is 0.11% to 0.45%, the outer diameter of the inner cladding layer is 53 μm or less, the relative refractive index difference of the inner cladding layer relative to the outer cladding layer is a negative value greater than or equal to -0.30%, the diameter of the holes is 2.4 μm to 4.0 μm, the hole occupancy rate is 17% to 48%, the bending loss at a wavelength of 1625 nm when bent at a 5 mm radius is 1 dB/turn or less, and the cutoff wavelength is 1550 nm or less. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT |
