[Problem] To provide a steering apparatus in which an inner column does not come free from an outer column even if a telescopic clamp of the inner column is released from the outer column when a vehicle-body attachment bracket is not yet attached to a vehicle body. [Solution] At the vehicle-body rear end of a telescopic adjustment position, the vehicle-body front ends of telescopic adjustment long grooves (43, 44) are brought into contact with the outer peripheral surface of a tightening rod (5), and the tightening rod (5) is thereby moved to the vehicle-body rear side. The vehicle-body attachment bracket (2) is pulled by the tightening rod (5), and the vehicle-body attachment bracket (2) and the outer column (4) try to come free from the inner column (3). Then, since an engagement member (68) fitted to the outside of the tightening rod (5) is brought into contact with a collar (86), the tightening rod (5) cannot be moved any further to the vehicle-body rear side, and the outer column (4) and the vehicle-body attachment bracket (2) can be prevented from coming free from the inner column (3). |
