Disclosed are a method and system for providing information. The method comprises the following steps: receiving data gathered via a client terminal control module; collecting from the data a user marker and a corresponding piece of operation information; associatively storing the user marker and the corresponding operation information; providing an information piece to a user on the basis of the operation information corresponding to the user marker on a friendship link of the user. The system comprises: an interface module, a collection module, a storage module, and an information provision module. In the present invention, the operation information of a friend can be combined to provide the user with information corresponding to the operation information of the friend; as the friendship link is used, the information corresponding to the operation information of the friend may be of a higher interest to the user, and is more targeted.
