Provided is a windmill rotary vane wherein the buckling strength for a load in the edge direction is improved, the safety factor of the buckling strength is brought closer to the safety factor of the material strength, and the weight is further reduced. A windmill rotary vane (5) has an outer coat element (11) composed of fiber-reinforced plastic, shear webs (15), and a trailing edge reinforcing element (20) which forms a trailing edge portion. The trailing edge reinforcing element (20) is provided with a first recessed portion (21) which contains the trailing edge-side end portion of the outer coat element (11), and a second recessed portion (22) which contains the trailing edge sides of overlays (19). Third recessed portions (24) which contain the front edge sides of the overlays (19) are formed at the trailing edge-side tip portion of the outer coat element (11). The tip portion of the outer coat element (11) is secured to the first recessed portion (21) by an adhesive agent (23).
