<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a congestion control technique capable of suppressing a throughput reduction across a network. <P>SOLUTION: A packet relay apparatus 100 includes: a buffer memory 122 including a plurality of queues for temporarily storing packets; and storage sections for storing a plurality of first queue lengths indicating respective queue lengths of the queues and a second queue length indicating a value corresponding to the sum total of the plurality of first queue lengths, respectively. When receiving a packet, the packet relay apparatus 100 specifies the queue to which the received packet belongs, from among the plurality of queues, and temporarily stores the packet in the specified queue in the buffer memory 122. The first queue lengths and the second queue length are then updated, and it is determined whether or not a congestion notification should be sent to a source of the packet in accordance with the first queue length corresponding to the specified queue, and the second queue length. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT |
