<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a compound needle of a flat knitting machine in which it can be hard for a slider to move back by a tensile force to a lower part of a tooth port to a former loop even when a state where a tongue is relatively lifted up is temporary kept for moving a hook relatively so as to be closed. <P>SOLUTION: A bottom of a tongue 6 with a step portion 6e between a slidable contact part 6c and an abutment part 6d has a shape more recessed upward than a conventional shape 6f. A stitch held by an upper edge 6a receives a tensile force to a lower part of a tooth port 8. The tensile force to the stitch substantially coincides with the direction that the abutment part 6d abuts on a flat face 4c. Thus, a component force to the direction along the flat face 4c hardly occurs and it is hard for a slider 5 to move back. If the abutment part 6d is in an arc shape, only the component force to the direction which is always perpendicular to a flat face 4b occurs while a component force to the direction along the flat face 4b does not occur, so that it becomes harder for the slider 5 to move back. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT |
