<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a stimulation-responsive compound that has a high deformation ratio and permits directional deformation, and an actuator using the same. <P>SOLUTION: The stimulation-responsive compound includes a unit A having a bond functioning as a rotary shaft, a first unit B arranged at a first binding site of the unit A, a second unit B arranged at a second binding site of the unit A, a first unit C having liquid crystallinity bonded to the first unit B through a first linking group, and a second unit C having liquid crystallinity bonded to the second unit B through a second linking group, wherein the first unit B and the second unit B are bonded by an oxidation-reduction reaction, the first unit C and the second unit C include a plurality of benzene rings, and at least one benzene ring of the plurality of benzene rings has functional groups including a benzene ring and bonded to mutually meta positions. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT |
