The frame side rail (2) has upper flange (4), lower flange (6) and web plate, which are arranged to form a U-shaped cross section having different wall thicknesses (a,b). The web plate having reduced wall thickness is extended in longitudinal direction of vehicle. The upper flange and lower flange are positioned so as to be orthogonal to each other. The curvature regions (14a,14b) having constant wall thicknesses are connected at end face on narrow side of web plate. An independent claim is included for method of producing longitudinal structure.
