The invention relates to a method of transmitting radio configuration parameters from a base station (102) to a relay node (100) in a wireless telecommunication system, the method comprising the step of transmitting a signal (106) from the base station to the relay node over an air interface via a protocol, the protocol being adapted to communication between two network nodes, wherein the signal is indicative of the radio configuration parameters and/or at least one unique cell global identity.
