Picture components stored in a database with primary visual information value are sorted in accordance with a prior selected criterion. The component graphically reproduced pictures are placed in a graphically-reproduced first information field. This field is reproduced on a television screen and can be activated by a user using a portable remote control. A second information field incorporating an alpha searcher which contains guide letters or other representative symbols is reproduced on the television screen and the user, by means of the remote control, makes adjustments in the second information field which correspond to picture components in the first information field. The user, by means of the alpha searcher, sets questions and examines the contents of the first information field. |
