<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a fall detecting device capable of surely detecting the fall of a user (passenger), and a passenger conveyor. <P>SOLUTION: The fall detecting device includes a scanning type distance sensor 7 installed near a landing serving as a get-off landing out of respective landings 2, 3 of the passenger conveyor 1 and radiating laser beams in a horizontal plane shape within a scanning range including a get-on/off floor plate 4 and an approach passage 6. The scanning type distance sensor accumulates measured distances at each angle, and computes standard deviation to time distance changes to data in a preset detection area, and also the standard deviation of the standard deviation. When the standard deviation of the standard deviation is a threshold or smaller, the scanning type distance sensor computes the surface size (length) of an object in the area and determines a fall state when a state of the surface size (length) of the object being the threshold or larger continues for a predetermined duration. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT |
