A method for preparing a negative active material is provided, comprising: A) mixing a carbon material, an organic polymer, and an aqueous solution of a Sn-containing compound to obtain a first mixture; B) adding a complexing agent to the first mixture with stirring to obtain a second mixture; C) adding a reducing agent to the second mixture to react and obtain a reaction product; and D) filtering, washing and then drying the reaction product to obtain the negative active material. Further, a negative electrode material comprising the negative active material and a lithium ion battery comprising the negative electrode material are provided.
