<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a reactor having excellent heat dissipation. <P>SOLUTION: A reactor 1 includes: one coil 2 in which a winding line 2w is wound; a magnetic core 3 that is located inside and outside of the coil 2 to form a closed magnetic circuit; and a case 4 housing a combination of the coil 2 and magnetic core 3. The end face shape of the coil 2 is race-track-shaped. The coil 2 is housed in the case 4 so that the axial direction of the coil 2 is parallel to an outer bottom face 41o of the case 4. Part of the outer peripheral surface of the coil 2 is covered by the magnetic core 3 (outside core part 32). The portion not covered by the magnetic core 3 comes in contact with an inner bottom face 41i of the case 4. Heat of the coil 2 can be directly discharged to the case 4 by the direct connection of part (mainly, a linear part 22) of the outer peripheral surface of the coil 2 with the inner bottom face 41i of the case 4 and can be discharged to an installation object such as a water-cooling table where the case 4 is installed.
