A method and device for obtaining capability of a mobile terminal by a base station subsystem are disclosed, during the discontinuous transmission, in case of that the mobile terminal does not report the supporting capability of single antenna interference cancellation, the supporting capability of single antenna interference cancellation is detected actively, therefore, the technique of single antenna interference cancellation is utilized effectively, a GSM network achieves the whole network performance well in the environment of interference limitation.
