<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve the following problem: transmission quality is seriously affected by inability of maintaining gain flatness properties of an optical amplifier and generation of gain deviation beyond a system tolerance range when the number of signals to be transmitted is equal to or less than half a total sum passing through a transmission path or a wavelength arrangement of the signal to be transmitted is distributed unevenly, while WDM transmission is performed in the transmission path having the optical amplifier. <P>SOLUTION: An optical transmission apparatus includes an inverting distribution fixing signal light source, generating an inverting distribution fixing signal to fix an inverting distribution state of an EDFA, which is provided in either apparatus or places of the optical transmission apparatus having the EDFA between a transmitter for transmitting a plurality of signals with different wavelengths and a receiver. The inverting distribution fixing signal light source generates the inverting distribution fixing signal at a fixed wavelength near a signal band passing through an optical amplifying section and near a peak of a gain coefficient of the EDFA and is enabled to fix the inverting distribution state of the EDFA by controlling power of the inverting distribution fixing signal. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT |
