<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To favorably secure a torque capacity and friction characteristics of a lock-up clutch device, capable of connecting an input member with an output member of a fluid transmission device, by moving a lock-up piston using hydraulic pressure. <P>SOLUTION: The lock-up piston 11 of a lock-up clutch mechanism 10 is divided into an engagement-side half part 12 having a friction material 14 which can frictionally be engaged with a front cover 2, and a pressing-side half part 13 which is arranged so as to be slidable in the axial direction of a torque converter 1. The engagement-side half part 12 and the pressing-side half part 13 which constitute the lock-up piston 11 are engaged with each other so that they can freely mutually slide so as to be integrally rotatable in at least the axial direction.
