The segment (1) has a securing element (7) for securing a position of a stator segment part (3) with respect to a rotor segment part (5) such that spacing between the stator and rotor segment parts corresponds to or smaller than an air gap thickness (9) of an electric machine. The stator and rotor segment parts exhibit small pitch, where the stator segment part comprises teeth and grooves. The teeth are made of electrical insulating material, where one of the teeth exhibits large width than the other tooth. The stator and rotor segment parts form an angle of about 180 degree. An independent claim is also included for a method for assembling a segmented electric machine.
