The diaphragm valve has an inlet and an outlet which are connected over a closable valve seat (5) by a diaphragm. The diaphragm comprises a movable sealing element (4-1) facing to the closable valve seat side, which forms a wall of a diaphragm-side balancing area (6). The sealing element is movably arranged relative to a center region (4-2) of the diaphragm. The volume of the balancing area is varied according to the movements of the sealing element.
