<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a gas sensor where a separator can be prevented from cracking and an outer cylinder engaging piece can be prevented from coming into contact with an outer surface of the separator due to caulking. <P>SOLUTION: A gas sensor 100 includes: a cylindrical housing 20; a sensor element 3 which is disposed so as to be inserted to the inside of the housing and has the rear end side thereof projected from a rear end of the housing; a separator 121 which is made of an insulating material and surrounds the rear end side of the sensor element; separator holding metal fittings 80 which have a cylindrical portion surrounding the separator and include a spring piece 82 elastically holding the separator with a space therebetween and an outer cylinder engaging piece 84 cut and raised from the cylindrical portion; and an outer cylinder 40 which surrounds the separator holding metal fittings and is fixed to the rear end of the housing. The outer cylinder includes a fixing end 84e for the outer cylinder engaging piece and a caulking and fixing portion 40s having a caulking width including at least an area R closer to the rear end side than the fixing end, and the outer cylinder engaging piece is not in contact with the outer surface of the separator. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT |
