<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To secure retrieval of music through key input of sol-fa string. <P>SOLUTION: An electronic dictionary 1 comprises: a flash ROM 80 for storing many different types of music information in which a music name is mapped to a music sol-fa character string showing a sol-fa string of the music; an input section 30 for inputting a character string showing a sol-fa string in the predetermined key, as an input sol-fa character string based on user operation; and a CPU 20 for retrieving the music information having the music sol-fa character string including the input sol-fa character string, from the different types of music information. The CPU 20 transposes a sol-fa string shown in the input sol-fa character string, generates a transposed sol-fa character string showing the sol-fa string after transposition, and retrieves music information having the music sol-fa character string including the transposed sol-fa character string, from the different types of music information.
