The control element comprises a light emitting device with a projection device through which light is emitted from the control element as a continuous line or dots on the control surface. The projection device illuminates symbols on the control surface. A light source i.e. LED, is arranged in the control element. The control element has an integrated power supply device for the light emitting device.
