<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a vehicle control device that can maintain proper follow-up travel regardless of acquisition situation of inter-vehicle communication information on a preceding vehicle. <P>SOLUTION: A parameter during follow-up travel control is determined according to an acquisition situation of an own-vehicle 1 in acquisition of the inter-vehicle communication information on a preceding vehicle 100, during the follow-up travel control where the own-vehicle 1 follows the preceding vehicle 100, based on the inter-vehicle communication information on preceding vehicle 100 in front of the own-vehicle 1. Thereby, the follow-up travel control is performed according to the acquisition situation of the inter-vehicle communication information. For example, when the inter-vehicle communication information on the preceding vehicle 100 can be appropriately acquired, ideal follow-up travel control is performed using acquired inter-vehicle communication information, and when the acquisition of the inter-vehicle communication information on the preceding vehicle 100 is difficult, the follow-up travel control can be performed by lowering dependence over the inter-vehicle communication information.
