The method involves controlling a loading unit (L) for loading a pressure storage (D) in a partial manner. A virtual-target condition of the loading unit is calculated. The virtual-target condition is compared with a real condition of the loading unit. A malfunction of the loading unit is detected on the basis of the comparison of virtual-target condition and real condition. The loading unit is switched-off in the presence of a malfunction. An independent claim is also included for a device for monitoring a loading unit for a pressure storage, particularly in a brake system for a motor vehicle.
