The present invention discloses a method and system for waking up Home (evolved) NodeB (H(e)NB) cell. The method includes: when approaching a target H(e)NB cell stayed previously, a User Equipment (UE) located at the coverage of the source base station cell reports a Proximity Indication (PI) information to the network side (301); after receiving the PI information reported by the UE, the network side performs a Close Subscriber Group (CSG) verification and/or location information verification, and initiates a wake-up process for the target H(e)NB cell if the verification is passed(302). With the present invention, the H(e)NBs in an energy-saving state are accurately woken up, the unnecessary waking up for energy-saving base stations is reduced while providing the necessary network coverage for the users, thus achieving the effect of energy-saving.
