<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To suppress the occurrence of a cast defect, etc due to thickening in a chain case-integrated type cylinder block. <P>SOLUTION: In the cylinder block 10 where a water jacket 13 around a cylinder 12 is formed and a storage space 31 for a timing chain 41 is integrally formed therein, a cooling water path 80 is formed through a wall part 11a provided between the water jacket 13 and the storage space 31. The cooling water path 80 includes an inlet side path 83 which cooling water from a water pump flows into and is connected to the water jacket 13, and an outlet side path 84 from which the cooling water flows outside.
