The invention relates to transport monitoring techniques. The method includes generating data packets containing data relating to the coordinates of a vehicle, the current date, the time and the status of individual subsystems of the vehicle, and converting said data packets into an electrical signal which is transmitted discretely in real time to a dispatcher control centre. It further includes periodically receiving data packets from this and other vehicles, as well as processing, storing and displaying information relating to the vehicle on an electronic location map. Reference and temporary packets are generated in the data file for transmission. A reference packet contains all of the current data from all sensors, the coordinates, the date and the time in full and is transmitted irrespective of the status of the vehicle. A temporary packet contains changes in the value of the data from the sensors and the amount of time which has elapsed between this change and the preceding reference file or changes in the coordinates and the amount of time which has elapsed between this change and the preceding reference file. The temporary packet is generated and transmitted only when a set threshold for the change in coordinates and data has been exceeded. The threshold value is set individually for each type of data. The invention makes it possible to increase the operational efficiency of commercial vehicle fleets and prevent the theft of fuel and other materials and the inappropriate use of a vehicle. |
