APPARATUS AND METHOD OF OTDOA ESTIMATION IN MOBILE COMMUNICATION SYSTEM

PURPOSE: An OTDOA estimation device in a mobile communication system and a method thereof are provided to offer an overlay cell ID environment in synchronous network and an exact OTDOA estimation in asynchronous network when muting is not supported. CONSTITUTION: When a received signal is a synchronous network signal, a cycle correlation unit estimate a CIR(Channel Impulse Response)(1203,1205) A serving PRS(Positioning Reference Signal) removing unit removes a PRS of a serving cell from the estimated CIR(1207). A threshold value controlling unit sets a threshold value for a inter cell transmitting reference time(1209). A path detecting unit detects the first path by using the final CIR and the threshold value. The path detecting unit estimates OTDOA(1211).
