Cutting disc

The cutting disc has a central section (2) with an even thickness and an outer rim (10) which is thicker than the centre. The outer surface (11) of the rim supports cutting elements (3) which are bonded to the surface. The thick rim has a width two to four times that of the centre of the disc. The ratio of the radial thickness of the rim to the diameter of the whole disc is between 0.0015 to 1 and 0.02 to 1. The outer surface is textured prior to applying the cutting elements e.g. diamond grit. The cutting effect can be enhanced by radial slots (5).
