Compounds of formula (I), where: R 0 is (C 8 -C 11 )-branched alkyl, CH 3 -(CH 2 ) m -, CH 3 -O-(CH 2 CH 2 O) 2 CH 2 -, or phenyl-(CH 2 ) x -; m = 6-10; x = 1-3; R 1 , R 3 , R 4 , R 7 , and R 8 are independently selected from the formula GF-(CH 2 ) n -; with n = 1-4; and GF = -NH 2 or -NH-C(=NH)-NH 2 ; R 2 is -CH(CH 3 )(OH), -CH(CH 3 ) 2 , -CH 2 NH 2 o -CH 2 OH; R 5 and R 6 are independently selected among H, -(C 1 -C 4 )- linear or branched alkyl, -(CH 2 )-R 10 , -CH 2 -CH 2 -S-CH 3 and -CH-(CH 3 )-OH; R 9 is CONH 2 , -CH(CH 3 )(OH) or CONHR 11 ; R 10 is phenyl, 3-indolyl, 4-imidazolyl, 4-hydroyiphenyl, ± o ²-naphtyl or 2-, 3- or 4-pyridyl; R 11 is a specific peptide sequence; u is CH 2 or S; v es NH o S; w is CH 2 or CO; with the condition that when R 9 is CONH 2 , then (a) R 5 or R 6 is -CH(CH 3 )(OH), or (b) R 5 and R 6 are H; or (c) the configuration of the C bound to R 9 is S or (d) the configuration of the C bound to R 5 is R; and with the condition that when R 9 is -CH(CH 3 )OH, then R 8 is GF(CH 2 ) n where n is 3 and GF is -NH-C(=NH)-NH 2 , and R 7 is GF(CH 2 ) n where n is 2 and GF is NH 2 , have been found to be useful in the treatment of bacterial infections. |
