Prior to the switch-off operation, the field strength of the magnetic field of the stepper motor is lowered, or the pointer is moved away from the stop means by a specified compensating angle of rotation. Alternatively, following the switch-off operation, the stepper motor is switched on again at least one time following a specified time span for a specified switch-on time span.
