PURPOSE: A data input method of an image display device and an image display device based on the method are provided to input information of an EPG(Electronic Program Guide) included in a digital broadcast signal to a character input window by pressing number keys. CONSTITUTION: A display(180) displays a character input window. A controller(170) receives a data input request while content is displayed. The controller displays the character input window for data input. The controller sets a current mode as a character input mode. The controller receives a character input signal. The controller inputs a character corresponding to the character input signal to the character input window.
