<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide the electric power unit of an electric dust catcher which can surely detect the lowering of insulation resistance by the moisture absorption of an electrode while preventing the secondary damage of the electric dust catcher. <P>SOLUTION: When the voltage of a high-voltage electrode 12 decreases during the operation of the electric dust catcher 1, the insulation resistance of the electrode 12 is detected by the monitoring electric power of a monitor power source 40. When insulation lowering is detected, the insulation resistance of the electrode 12 is detected thereafter.
