PURPOSE: An actuator for a wastegate or a variable turbine device and the use thereof are provided to reduce contaminants by changing the direction of hot exhaust gas. CONSTITUTION: An actuator(10) for a wastegate or a variable turbine device comprises a rotary drive(12) and a screw member(18). The screw member converts the rotation motion of the rotary drive into the reciprocation motion of a tappet(22) connected to a hinged wastegate and/or a variable turbine device of an exhaust turbo charger. The tappet comprises one or more webs(46) and one or more guides(24,42).
