The method involves filling a chamber with a liquid, where the chamber is located in the interior of a roller. The liquid is transferred from the central axis (1) to a roll shell (2) by a hydraulic supporting force. The signals received by sensors are evaluated for vibration behavior of the axis, the shell and the speed of the shell in a computing unit.
