Resin is fed into a mold (6) inside a vacuum chamber (2) at a pressure higher than that in the vacuum chamber to ensure that all air is excluded from the fiber reinforcement and a high quality, void free molding is realized. Independent claims are included for: (a) vacuum casting equipment including a vacuum chamber (2), a pressure chamber (3) and a tube (9) for delivering resin from the pressure chamber (3) to a feed point (7) on the mold (6); and (b) a plastic component produced by the process which requires no subsequent work operations, has a smooth surface on all sides and contains >= 70vol% of fibers.
