The arrangement has a toothed blocking element (5) of a blocking device (4) which can be moved towards the steering shaft (1) from a locking position, and which engages apertures (7) between adjacent teeth (6) on a toothed rim (3) on the outer periphery of the steering shaft when in the locking position. The blocking device is mounted on the vehicle body so that it moves with the steering column when the latter is displaced. The side of the blocking element facing the toothed rim is curved towards its longitudinal axis so that when the steering column is displaced the optimal engagement characteristic is maintained between the toothed rim and the blocking element. The locking arrangement also has a camshaft driven by an electric motor with gearing.
