A device for using an instant messenger in a portable terminal and a method thereof are provided to offer an integrated login function and an integrated logout function of the instant messenger, thereby solving a user's inconvenience of repeatedly conducting login and logout procedures when using a lot of instant messengers. A list of IDs with which a user logs in an instant messenger is displayed(201,203). The user's ID selection is confirmed(205). If the selected ID is an integrated ID, the user logs in plural instant messengers(207). The plural instant messengers are all of usable instant messengers or instant messenger groups set by the user. If the selected ID is an individual ID, the user logs in a corresponding instant messenger(209,211). |
